Blog365 – Day 49

Happy Presidents Day everyone! I’ve been kinda busy this morning around the house. Our shower had a leak so we haven’t been able to take a shower here. One of the plastic fittings was leaking and needed to be repaired. So I took the hardboard off and the drywall underneath that. I found the source of the leak. The fitting you screw the shower head into was cracked. There was also a smaller leak on the pipe where it screws into the faucet. I took the pipe off and made a new one with new fittings on both ends. I then put the pipe in and checked for leaks. I put the drywall and hardboard back on, caulked, and now we are good to go. Another project we are working on is the washer and dryer in the basement. There was a very old sink hooked up down there (no plumbing, it was fastened to the wall though) that was in the way. I managed to finagle the heavy sink off the wall. I also removed the moldy hardboard that was behind it. Now, we just have to run the water supply, drain, and electrical for the washer and dryer. That pretty much covers my day. I really need a shower and can’t hardly wait for the caulk to dry. I got dirty down in the basement with all the dust and cobwebs behind the sink. I think I will take a shower later and just chill tonight.

  1. Happy P-Day, Ray!

Wish I had your courage and your skills to tackle leaky shower. I think the pipe in my has ‘come apart’ inside the tile and wall where it can’t be reached without some ‘deconstruction’. I don’t call the property manager for our house because I don’t want to get busted for Excess Kitties (all of whom hang half their time in that room). I procrastinate until I figure it out… in the meantime, I sneak down the hall to the other bathroom and grab my showers. :-) That’s a solution, too, eh?
